BigMile has today announced its new partnership with Transport en Logistiek Nederland (TLN). Through this partnership, TLN’s members can access special rates for BigMile, a carbon accounting solution designed for hauliers of all sizes to accurately calculate and report their CO₂e emissions.
CO₂ reporting is becoming increasingly important in transport and logistics. This is not only due to developing European regulations but primarily because customers are already demanding it. Shippers increasingly want insight into the CO₂e emissions of their logistics chain, down to the shipment level. This also applies to carriers and LSPs who are not yet legally required to report themselves but serve customers who are.
In addition to the existing CSRD legislation, the European CountEmissionsEU Act is still in preparation, but many market parties are already anticipating its arrival. In practice, this means emission data is increasingly included in tenders, contract renewals, and client meetings. Reliable and well-founded CO₂e calculations are thus becoming a differentiating factor.
To support its 5,000 members, TLN entered a partnership with BigMile, one of the largest providers of carbon accounting tools in the Benelux and ranking among the top three globally in this field. The software enables companies of all sizes to easily calculate, analyze, and report supply chain emissions—at shipment level—for their clients.
It supports all transport modalities and uses globally accredited calculation methodologies and standards, including ISO 14083, the GLEC Framework, and the CountEmissionsEU standard. This ensures that results are highly comparable and widely accepted across regions.
Calculations utilize primary data whenever possible, such as operational data regarding fuel consumption, vehicle type, and load factor. This yields the most accurate results. When primary data is not yet available, secondary data—such as validated averages and models—can be used. This also occurs within established international frameworks, ensuring results remain reliable and easy to explain to customers.
Additionally, BigMile is ISAE 3000 type II and SOC2 certified. This ensures a fast and smooth audit process by accountants for the transport company itself, as well as for its clients who use BigMile’s results and reports.
For TLN members, this partnership means they can better respond to increasing customer demands and prepare for future European requirements. CO₂ reporting thus becomes more than just an obligation; it is a way to provide extra value to clients and strengthen one's position in the supply chain.
TLN members receive member benefit discount on BigMile plans. This makes it more accessible to provide transparency on CO₂ emissions in a reliable and internationally recognized manner.
Additionally, BigMile has partnered with other industry organizations, including ACN, the association for the air freight industry, and evofenedex, the knowledge hub for trade and logistics to offer special member rates for BigMile plans.
