Field service

Track emissions across your field service operations

With multiple vans and technicians travelling to different sites every day, transport emissions—as well as fuel and carbon-related costs—can quickly add up for field service companies. BigMile helps you calculate emissions for every job so you can identify hotspots, share data with stakeholders, and choose lower-emitting routes, vehicles, and fuel types.

Use cases

Accurate emissions data, without hours of manual calculations

Relying on spreadsheets and online calculators to calculate emissions across different jobs—each with varying distances, routes, and vehicle types—can feel chaotic. BigMile makes it simple.

Automated emissions calculations for every job

Import fleet and job data into BigMile and automatically calculate the CO₂e emissions for every job, in line with global standards such as ISO 14083 and the GLEC Framework.

Share CO₂e data with clients and partners

Easily export job-specific emissions reports to share with clients, supply chain partners, or create consolidated reports of multiple jobs with just one click.

Identify emissions reduction opportunities

See which routes, vehicles, and fuel types have the highest emissions, and use energy shift scenario tools to make smarter investments to reduce your footprint.

Don't take our word for it, hear what existing users are saying

“We have now actively asked our own subcontractors for CO2 information, with the advice that if you don't have anything yet and you can still choose, why not check if BigMile fits well. Then we can just link to each other using the Data Sharing functionality of BigMile.”

“Using BigMile Carbon Analytics, we can calculate the CO2 emissions of our supply chain partners’ intermodal transport movements. Higher reliability of our measurements will help us decide how best to reduce and offset our emissions. We actively share the information with our supply chain partners and engage with them on how we can work together to achieve lower emissions. We strongly believe it is more effective to set up projects to address carbon emissions within our supply chain together with our partners.”

Get in touch and we will be happy to answer your questions.

How long does the onboarding take?

BigMile can be up and running within just a few days. New clients are guided through the onboarding process by a dedicated Business Consultant to ensure the platform is configured to their specific needs and preferences.

Can I integrate BigMile with my existing field service or work management software?

BigMile integrates with 30+ transport management systems, ERP platforms, and other software via the Emissions API. If your existing field service or work management software isn't on the list, getting started is still straightforward—data can be imported directly using custom templates in Excel or CSV format, with no technical setup required.

How does BigMile compare to online emissions calculators?

Online emissions calculators are sufficient for one-off emissions calculations but lack the granularity and insights needed when calculating emissions for multiple journeys or across your operations.

BigMile provides shipment-level CO₂e emissions data, calculated in line with global standards such as ISO 14083 and the GLEC Framework. This means you can provide accurate emissions data to customers and gain insights into emissions hotspots and opportunities to reduce your carbon footprint.

Is BigMile suitable for users with no experience in carbon accounting?

Yes. BigMile is designed to be accessible to users with no prior experience in emissions calculation, while also meeting the needs of more experienced sustainability and operations teams.

What types of emissions does BigMile calculate for field service companies?

BigMile supports calculation of transport and supply chain-related CO₂e emissions, covering scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. This includes emissions from all transport modes, including both company-owned vans, leased vehicles, and technician travel to and from their workplace. It also includes indirect emissions from the consumption of purchased electricity, steam, heat, or cooling, such as those from energy used in warehouses, storage facilities, or offices.
